Councillor Phil George

  • Chairman of East Donyland Parish Council
  • Member of the Finance & Personnel Committee
  • Member of the Maintenance Committee

I am an experienced project manager and marketer with a broad range of management experience and have enjoyed a varied career in videographics, event management and gardening. Having reached the dizzy heights of Marketing Director for an International Events company I switched to working in the public sector where I design and run events for Local Authority Chief Executives as well as running a small garden maintenance business. I am passionate about effective communication to achieve success and enhance the communities in which we live and work and as a Parish Councillor am involved in some of the less visible processes that a Parish Council is required to have.

Councillor Richard Helliwell

  • Vice Chairman of East Donyland Parish Council
  • Member of the Maintenance Committee
  • Member of the Finance & Personnel Committee

My wife and I moved to Rowhedge around 12 years ago from Wivenhoe and have now raised our daughter who attended St Lawrence school. My role as a senior IT manager with the East of England Coop has I feel provided me with the skills to help the Council get to grips with procedural and technical aspects of Council life as well as on-going maintenance and planning issues. Like all Rowhedge residents I love our community and want to see it flourish and prosper for all.

Councillor John Rowland

  • Chairman of the Maintenance Committee

I am a Marine Biologist and have worked as a conservation ecologist and educator for many years. I have worked on many community garden projects over the years, including the Wivenhoe Wildlife Garden seen on the BBC programme ‘Glorious Gardens from Above’, and the Edible Rowhedge project. This, along with teaching Horticulture, I have become more and more enthusiastic about garden design. This has lead me to give up my position as a teacher to pursue this passion.
As a councillor, my aim is to enhance our local environment for residents and our local wildlife. With this aim in mind I have been working with volunteers and colleagues to produce ornamental edible gardens for local people. I would like to continue with this while looking into creating areas for wildlife that residents would be able to enjoy our beautiful natural environment and the organisms we share it with.
